On behalf of the whole Chinese commercial community the Chinese members of the Legislative Council of Hongkong request me to make the following urgent representations to His Majesty's Goverment:-

Firstly, that the principles of equal opportunities of trade and the maintenance of the integrity of China are sub- -verted by the demands made by Japan upon her.

Secondly, that if Japan succeeds in imposing her will on China British prestige and influence in China will be seriously damaged.

Thirdly, that the designs of Japan in Asia are comparable to those which Germany is attempting to impose on Europe.

The assistance of His Majesty's Government is, therefore, asked for on behalf of China by the Chinese community.
